There is a new system update for PlayStation 4 consoles, but it’s not Version 5.0 yet

Sony has released another new system update for the PlayStation 4, although it’s probably not the one you were hoping for.

Doing the same as the previous couple of updates, Version 4.73 looks at improving the quality of the consoles “system performance”, and will be a mandatory 341mb update for those who want to continue using the online features of the PS4.

Update 5.0 is due to enter its closed beta testing later this month, and although its features have yet to be confirmed, circulating rumours suggest it’s due to be big one, with the likes of changing your PlayStation Network ID, PSone Classic support and Wishlists.

No one seems to know the source of these claims though, so it’s hard to put any real faith into these happening, however there is usually one major addition with each big firmware update, so hopefully we might just see one of the most requested features finally get added to the PlayStation 4; it can’t come soon enough for those players stuck with their embarrassing PSN ID’s they chose when they were a young kid trying to be cool….yes I’m looking at you xXx_NoobSlayer69_xXx!

If you would like the chance to get involved with the beta for Update 5.0, you can sign up here for Europe and North America.
