Classics come alive at the home of British motor racing

There’s only a week to go until the racing calendars biggest classic event begins, not just the biggest in Britain but in the whole world, with an expected 100,000 visitors turning up over the weekend. From the 28th-30th of July, the home of British motor racing will be awash with classic cars and enthusiasts and you only have until 5 pm on Thursday 27th to bag your tickets, so don’t delay any longer. You must purchase tickets in advance as there are none available on the day, with adult admission starting at just £43 and children a mere £6, what are you waiting for? There is still limited availability on the weekend camping packages and hospitality upgrades so don’t procrastinate any longer. This unmissable blockbuster, encompassing the full spectrum of glorious motor sports history, will feature packed grids with over 1,000 entries, great entertainment, special anniversary celebrations and a behemothic programme of 22 races gracing the infamous 3.7 mile Grand Prix circuit. The extensive infield display areas are entirely sold out with a record number of car clubs turning out to display their beautiful classic motors, 10,000 cars are expected to show over the three days. This spectacular summer showcase will amaze you with the distinguished shows, track parades and an unprecedented number of unequalled cars, both from the world of racing and road worthy in attendance.

As always the Classic is not just about the cars, there will be entertainment for all the family which is included for free in the cost of admission. Whether you would like to do a little retail therapy in the shopping village where the 2017 Silverstone Classic clothing range can be purchased or chill out to the dulcet tones of Tony Hadley who will be headlining on Saturday night, there’s something to interest every member of the family. Other attractions include dramatic live demos, racing simulators and interactive driving experiences, an adrenaline zone, the Jet big wheel, crazy golf, a traditional vintage fairground, static displays and street car shootouts. There is even a nod to the skies for the aviation buffs with an air display and Spitfire engine fire-ups.

As always spectators are afforded a spectacular close up view of the cars as tickets also cover trackside grandstands and access to both racing paddocks with their widely admired ‘access all areas’ policy, unlike any other racing event or location. Nowhere else in the world can you get up close and personal with the cars and the racing drivers themselves. Relish the races and take a walk through the paddocks to familiarise yourself with this impressive motors.

Highlights over the weekend will include Nigel Mansells ‘Red 5’ Williams FW14  and over 50 famous faces such as Ant Anstead and Charlie Boorman racing 1950’s Austin A35 saloons in the Celebrity Challenge Trophy Race.
